Introducing Panaptic: the business operating system that builds itself

Panaptic is a self-authoring, agent-native business operating system. You describe how your business works; its agent builds the integrations, code libraries, and apps to run it, then wires them into tasks you run anywhere from fully user-operated to fully autonomous.

Most software asks you to fit your business to it. You map your processes onto someone else's screens, stitch a few tools together with automation glue, and hire engineers to hold the seams shut. Panaptic starts from the opposite premise. You describe how your business actually works, and the platform builds the software to run it.

That is what we mean when we call Panaptic a self-authoring, agent-native business operating system. Self-authoring because the platform writes its own integrations, code libraries, and apps. Agent-native because an AI agent does that building, and the same agent then runs the work. Business operating system because what you end up with is not a chatbot bolted onto your stack — it is the substrate your operations run on.

The narrative arc: describe, build, wire, run

The whole product follows one arc. First, you describe what your business needs in plain language — the systems you use, the data you keep, the decisions your team makes every day. Second, Panaptic's agent builds the pieces to support it: integrations to your existing systems, typed code libraries that hold your business logic, and apps your team clicks through. Third, it wires those pieces into tasks — the surface where work actually happens. Fourth, each task runs at whatever level of autonomy you choose.

The part that matters most is what does not happen in between. There is no separate build tool, no codebase you check out, no deploy step, no hand-off from a development environment to a production one. The agent that builds your system is the same agent that runs it, on the same plane. Build-time and run-time are one environment. When something needs to change, you describe the change and it happens where the work lives — not in a backlog three sprints away.

One primitive: everything is a connection

Underneath the friendly language sits a deliberately small idea. Panaptic has one primitive: the connection. A connection is a configured, typed, credentialed instance of an integration type — and almost everything is one. Your link to Stripe or Microsoft 365 is a connection. So is your own data table. So is a library of your business logic. So is an app your team uses. So is the AI agent itself. So, even, is Panaptic's own administrative surface.

Collapsing everything onto a single primitive is what makes the platform composable rather than a pile of features. Because a data table and a third-party API and your custom logic are all connections, the agent can reason about them the same way and wire them together without special cases. And because every connection is typed end-to-end — inputs, outputs, the UI that renders them, the catalogue of operations the agent is allowed to call — the agent sees exactly the same operation list a human would. It cannot invent an operation that does not exist, and authoring is gated against real API responses before any typed contract is committed. This is the opposite of brittle prompt-stuffing: state lives in a queryable, change-tracked graph, and every action is signed by whoever took it, so the audit trail is part of the substrate rather than a plugin.

Three roles on one plane: operate, author, administer

Most AI assistants only do one job: they operate. They run a step of work when you ask. Panaptic's agent plays three roles on the same plane, and that is the difference between a helper and an operating system.

As Operator, the agent runs the work — pulling data through connections, calling operations, moving a task forward. As Author, it builds the very pieces that work depends on: it writes the integrations, authors the typed code libraries that encode your logic, drafts the apps your team uses, and defines the schemas for your data. As Administrator, it provisions users and organisations, sets access rules, schedules recurring tasks, and manages billing. Operate, author, administer — the same agent, the same environment, no second tool to learn or licence.

You hold the dial: manual, CoPilot, autonomous

Agent-native does not mean hands-off. Every task in Panaptic runs at a level of autonomy you choose, and you can move that dial without rebuilding anything. In Manual mode the human drives every step and the agent assists only when asked — which also means it uses zero AI credits. In CoPilot mode the agent proposes actions and pauses at confirmation gates for your approval. In Autonomous mode the agent executes on its own and you audit afterwards, with a complete signed record of what it did and why.

It is the same task definition in all three cases. Only the dial moves. You can start a new process fully manual while you build trust, shift it to CoPilot once the shape is clear, and let the well-understood parts run autonomously later — all without re-authoring the work. Humans keep judgement and control; the agent is a force multiplier and a co-builder, not a replacement.

What it replaces

Practically, Panaptic stands in for a stitched-together stack — a documents-and-databases tool, a tables tool, an internal-app builder, an automation layer, an agent framework, and a pile of DIY admin — roughly the kind of toolset that runs eight hundred to a thousand dollars a month before you count the engineers needed to glue it together. Panaptic folds that into one substrate where the building and the running are the same act, starting far lower. Each org gets its own database, your own choice of model provider, and a billing model that separates platform usage from the pass-through cost of AI.
